Willem I Proof Piefort 2-1/2 Gulden 1840 PR62 NGC, Utrecht mint, KM-P14, Schulman-257a (RRR). 51.83gm. An extremely rare double-weight representative of this already large 2-1/2 Gulden denomination. Though deeply toned to interwoven hues of coffee and mahogany, examination under light reveals a high-gloss Proof finish to the surfaces that leaves no doubt as to the specimen's special manufacture, a pullaway effect along the legends and central devices of the reverse revealing argent brilliance underneath this age-old patina. Though not visible in the current holder placement, the edge of the piece reads GOD ★ ZIJ ★ MET ★ ONS ★.
