La Rioja. Provincial 2 Reales 1842 MS63+ NGC, KM12. A conditionally rare issue portraying the bust of caudillo Juan Manuel de Rosas, nicknamed the "Restorer of the Laws", as inscribed in the obverse legends. The offering reveals a quality of preservation that we had previously not seen for the type, with shimmering argent luster and a light surface tone adding to the visual appeal. By far the finest of only four examples certified by NGC to date, and with none graded by PCGS, an unrivaled piece in all regards.
