Ferdinand I Taler 1543 XF Details (Cleaned) NGC, Joachimstal mint, Dav-8045. An extremely rare "Joachimsthaler" type from this small Bohemian silver mining town. Joachimsthaler issues were the precursor to the eventual Thaler, and began issuance in Joachimstal in 1518. The present example is not only the first of its kind we have had the pleasure of offering, but also the only example we have been able to find in our research of external auction records, and as such provides a unique opportunity for the collector of early Taler issues.
