British Colony. George III Counterstamped 6 Shilling 1 Penny ND (1819-1820) XF45 NGC, KM4.2 Displaying incuse crowned script "GR" countermark on a Ferdinand VII 8 Reales 1819 Mo-JJ from Mexico (cf. KM111). An exceptional example of this type usually found in lower certified grades, with appealing gunmetal gray surfaces unmarred by distracting marks and retaining traces of mint luster. Very scarce, and proven to be a contemporary issue as pieces with this countermark have been found overstruck by later Brazilian 960 Reis issues.
