Comoros
French Colony. Said Ali Ibn Omar silvered-copper Specimen Pattern 5 Francs AH 1308 (1890/1891)-(a) SP61 PCGS, Paris mint, KM-Unl., Maz-Unl., Lec-7. Reeded edge. The most highly valued of the French-Comorian Essais for this one-year type according to Lecompte, and one that even the seasoned French colonial collector will have difficulty locating--this being one of perhaps just two specimens known to have come to the market in recent years, and that for a production type that saw a mintage of just 2,050 pieces. Thick with die polish over both sides along with captivating accenting tones, it is of the highest rarity and is only the second such example we have had the privilege to offer.
