Republic 5 Francos 1891-A MS64 NGC, Paris mint, KM12. Choice Uncirculated with full mint luster over basically unmarked surfaces and most attractive for the designation with strong claims to the gem category. A trivial planchet roughness between the "A" and "N" in "FRANCOS" on the obverse probably accounts for the assigned grade, yet it is fully concealed by the superb steel patina. The only regular full fineness crown struck by this country, conditionally very rare and most desirable in this select quality, a finely preserved example which ranks among the most attractive seen by the cataloguer in recent years.
