Republic 5 Francos 1858 QUITO-GJ MS64 NGC, Quito mint, KM39. By all means an outlier in this treasured and conditionally sensitive series, and quite simply a type that very rarely comes this fine. Fully expressed in all facets of the design, just the slightest softness is discernable on bust's cheek and the corresponding portion of the reverse arms, if anything hardly consequential to the coin's superb visual appeal, with the added effect of satin field texture sharpening the devices and making this all the more dismissible. Presently only 2 pieces grade finer at NGC, marking this as an undeniable "gem" for the condition-minded collector.
