Republic 5 Francs L'An 6 (1797/1798)-T AU Details (Obverse Scratched) NGC, Nantes mint, KM639.9, Dav-1337. Issued under the authority of the Directory (1795-1799). A deceivingly rare date-mint combination, with only one other example of the issue certified by NGC, in VF. In fact, we are only able to find an auction record of one other example in our research, likewise in VF. A scratch in the 9 o'clock area of the obverse accounts for the grade, but overall the present piece is quite pleasing and may very well be the finest known.
