Napoleon III 5 Francs 1867-A MS65 PCGS, Paris mint, KM799.1, Gad-739. Simply a fantastic specimen, the whole of the piece nearly mark-free, save for a few signs of contact near the emperor's truncation, with an enchanting cabinet patina providing one of the few signs of the coin's age. The first year that saw an explosion of the mintage figures for the 5 Francs at Paris, we can only imagine that a scant number of specimens survived to the present day in so superior a Mint State condition, a fact confirmed by a quick survey of the certified population.
