Cnut (1016-35) Penny ND (1016-23) MS65 NGC, Cambridge mint, Leofsige as moneyer, Quatrefoil type, S-1157, N-781. 0.93gm. + CNVT REX ΛNGLΘ, diademed and draped bust left inside quatrefoil / + LIΘ | FSII | ON G | RAN, voided long cross with crescent ends over quatrefoil with a pellet at each apex. A magnificent example of this early Penny issue, each facet of the design boldly struck and unmarred by a trace of wear, the surfaces alight with glowing silvery-white luster. Rare in this gem condition, and tied with two others as finest certified by NGC for the type.
