Dutch Colony. United East India Company silver Duit 1758/6 MS62 NGC, cf. KM111.1a (date and overdate unlisted), Scholten-Unl. An apparently very rare United East India Company issue, unlisted in both the Standard Catalog of World Coins and in Scholten. Scholten notes "Though they have been mentioned by others, Moquette never saw a genuine specimen of the Doits dated 1737, 1743, 1747-51, 1756, 1758 and 1759." This example, then, is made further intriguing by its representation of two unlisted dates, 1756 overdated with 1758. Flashy and lustrous, and in all respects deserving of a premium bid.
