Valencia. Ferdinand II (1479-1516) gold Ducat ND (c. 1483?) MS62 NGC, Fr-86, MEC VI-262, Cay-2331. 3.40gm. +FER6INAN6S x 6EI ∂RACIA x RE, crowned bust of Ferdinand left within tressure, S-S to either side / VALENCIE x MAI | ORICARVM x SE, crowned arms of Aragon within tressure, annulets in spandrels, shield below. Captivating quality for the issue, Ferdinand's portrait rendered in a notably humanistic style while the whole of the piece is fully struck up with the lightest tinge of die rust. Expressing an impressive clarity, the whole of the stamp expressed on the flan despite its mildly irregular shape.
