Basel. City silver Proof Medallic "4 Ducat" 1769 PR63 NGC, Fr-87B, cf. SM-1070 (in gold) cf. Winterstein-257a (same). 20.20gm. A medallic issue by Johann J. Handmann, typically found struck in gold and to the weight of 4 Ducats. The obverse features the city goddess, Basilia, seated with the arms of Basel and a cornucopia at her feet, while the reverse depicts crossed palm and laurel branches upon a cubic altar. A rare opportunity to acquire this scarce issue.
