Mexico City, Mexico, 4 reales, Charles-Joanna, "Early Series," assayer R (Latin) at bottom between pillars, motto PLVSV in rounded panel, rare, ex-Jones (Plate Coin).Nesmith-6d/6c; Cal-71 type; S-M1; KM-16.12.42 grams.Deeply toned XF with moderate corrosion on part of the edge only (probably "Golden Fleece wreck" of ca. 1550). The shield legend retains the later type of retrograde N while the pillars legend does not. All lettering is Latin.
