MACEDON, Amphipolis. Marcus Aurelius. As Caesar, AD 139-161. Æ (19mm, 5.21 g, 6h). Bare head right / Turreted Artemis Tauropolos standing facing, head left, holding long torch and branch. RPC IV.1 Online 4233 var. (obv. and rev. legends); AMNG III 82 var. (same); BMC 105 var. (same). Dark green to black patina with earthen highlights/deposits, smoothing. VF. Crude style, almost barbaric, resulting in blundered legends.
