The Hardcastle Collection | 17th Century Tin Coinage (5), including: Charles II (1660-85), Farthings (2) 1684, the other illegible; also, James II (1685-88), Farthing, 1685 [on edge], with copper plug in centre, laureate and cuirassed bust right (Peck type 1; S.3420); lastly, William and Mary (1688-94) (2), Halfpenny, 1692, with copper plug in centre (S.3449), heavily corroded, poor to fair for strike; and, Farthing, [1689], type 1, conjoined and draped busts right, rev. Britannia, seated left (Peck 563; S.3450), most with blistered or corroded surfaces, the 1684 with 'River Thames' patina, a scruffier bold fine, the rest poor to better than fine for struck details, an interesting academic group (5).
