TRIO TO POW: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 3371 Pte J.Molloy. 2/Bn. A.I.F. on first medal, 3371 L/Cpl J.Molloy. 2 Bn. A.I.F. on last two medals. All medals impressed. Display mounted on cardboard sheet with enamelled colour patch badge of 2 Bn and a Nearest Female Relative's badge, toned very fine - extremely fine.

John Molloy, salesman, age 31, born at Sydney, NSW; Enl.05Aug1915 at Warwick Farm, NSW; Emb.02Nov1915; TOS 53 Bn 16Feb1916; to L/Cpl 23May1916; MIA 19Jul1916 in France; revised and now reported captured 20Jul1916; Taken POW at Fromelles south of Fleurbaix in the famous 'All Australian' action intended to show that the Australian forces could operate independently, but it was a disaster with over 4,000 casualties; POW in Germany at Dulmen, Soltau and Heestmoor Lager; trf to Hameln, Holland for internment arrived 05Jul1918 (Molloy wrote - the barracks at Hameln is alive with bugs, fleas and rats); arrived England 25Nov1918 and to hospital with gonorrhoea; RTA 05Mar1919; Disemb.23Apr1919 at Sydney, NSW; Disch.18Jun1919.
