EGYPT, Kingdom of, Ptolemy I Soter, (305-283 B.C.), AE 28, diobol, (16.85 g), Alexandria mint, obv. laureate head of Zeus-Ammon to right, rev. Eagle with spread wings standing left on thunderbolt, cornucopia to left, A over XA monogram, **PTOLEMAIOU BASILEWS* around, (cf.S.7763, CPE B57, Sv.288, Koln 5, SNG Cop.-). Extremely fine, with even brown patina with collector packet, probably the finest known, very rare.
