Roman Empire, Probus, Antoninian, Cyzicus

The Emperor is holding a small, round shield (Parma shield). This type of shield is eagerly sought-after by collectors. It was struck only in the mints of Ticinum, Siscia, Serdica and Cyzicus. While this type of shield is rare on Siscia and Serdica coins it is extremely rare on Ticinum and Cyzicus coins.

Obverse: Radiate, cuirassed and helmeted bust left, holding spear and parma shield, legend:
IMP C M AVR PROBVS P F AVG;

Reverse: Emperor riding left, right hand raised, left hand holding sceptre, at foot, captive, legend:
VIRTVS PROBI AVG; In exergue XXIMC, in field B;

Silver, diameter 24 mm, weight 4,2 g, axis 6 h.
