IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust to right / PONTIFEX MAX TR P IIII, emperor, holding branch and eagle-tipped sceptre and crowned by Victory, holding palm, in triumphal quadriga led to left by Virtus, holding reins and spear; a soldier's helmeted head facing between two spears in background, COS II P P in exergue.
