Kingdom of Macedon, Antigonos I Monophthalmos AR Drachm. In the name and types of Alexander III. Abydos, circa 310-301 BC. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress / Zeus Aëtophoros seated to left, holding sceptre; AΛEΞANΔP[OY] to right, monogram above prow to right in left field. Price -, cf. 1540-1541 (kerykeion in outer right field); Roma E-73, lot 276 corr. (no kerykeion in outer right field, same dies). 4.22g, 17mm, 12h.
Very Fine. Apparently an unpublished variant, not in Price.
From the inventory of a German dealer.
Comparing the present coin to the example from the same dies (Roma E-73, 276), it is possible to see that there is not a kerykeion in the outer right field of either piece, making this type a previously unknown variant that was not known to M.J. Price.
