John Freind was a Fellow of the Royal Society [1712] and Member of Parliament for Launceston [1722]. For a short while he was imprisoned, suspected of favouring the exiled Stuarts, but on his release appointed physician to Frederick, Prince of Wales and later Queen Caroline. He was published extensively.
