Germany. Archdiocese of Magdeburg. Anonymous c. 1040. AR Denar (17mm, 1.18g). Gittelde mint. Head of saint / Cross, in angles crosier(?) and possible alpha and omega. Dbg. 1310 (as unknown mint); Mehl 919. Fine, usual flat spots.
This type is usually attributed to Gittlede, however recently P. Ilisch has proposed Corvey as mint due to the striking similarities to the reverse of Dbg 1619.
