Hong Kong Chartered Bank of India, Australia & China 5 Dollars 1.5.1922 Pick 41 KNB21 PMG Very Fine 25 Net. As one of Waterlow & Sons most endearing designs, this type is widely sought after across the world. Original embossing is seen in some places on this beautiful, large format note. Of importance, this 5 Dollar note, while in circulation, was "raised" to a higher denomination by skilled craftsmen. The design elements were altered and the numerical value was changed, in the hopes that most vendors were none the wiser. At some point more recently, the note was restored back to its original design and denomination. Under the strongest magnification, minute traces of the raised denomination are present. This example is void of large ink notations. The overall eye appeal is still quite good despite the work to raise the denomination and subsequent restoration.
