Hong Kong Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corp. 50 Dollars 1.1.1934 Pick 175d KNB64b-c "Duress Note" PMG About Uncirculated 50 EPQ. As is so often the case, the sands of time do not wear kindly on paper banknotes. This example, however, remains as fresh as the day it was issued. Bradbury, Wilkinson & Company prepared this banknote in the early 1930s, and sent the type to Kong Kong without a signature at left. Higher denomination HSBC notes were hand-signed at left before issue. When the Japanese invaded Hong Kong in 1941, their army forced HSBC officials to release $50, $100, and $500 banknotes. This offered note falls within the known serial number range for "Duress" Notes: B350,001 to 550,000 for dates from 1930 to 1934. Incredible, original paper and colors are seen on this banknote. Among the finest known and with eye appeal virtually unmatched for such a rare and large sized banknote. Not to be missed. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/hong-kong-hongkong-and-shanghai-banking-corp-50-dollars-111934-pick-175d-knb64b-c-duress-note-pmg-about-uncircu/a/4026-28206.s?type=CoinArchivesCurrency4026 HID08706262019 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
