Chihli. Kuang-hsü Dollar Year 34 (1908) MS66 NGC, Pei Yang Arsenal mint, KM-Y73.2, L&M-465A, Kann-208, WS-0643. Short central spine on tail variety. Quite simply an astonishing specimen, preserved at a level far above its peers, with just 10 other specimens ranking at this peak level across NGC and PCGS combined out of well over 10,000 certified. From a visual standpoint, the surfaces are virtually immaculate, just a few scattered traces of die rust visible above the dragon's head, a tinge of golden tone acting as a border for waves of fresh mint luster that effortlessly cross the surfaces. To-date we have been able to locate only two other MS66s coming to auction, the last of which, the long tail spine variety, brought $25,000 hammer in a recent sale.
