Netherlands East Indies. Japanese Occupation tin Sen NE 2604 (1944) MS64 PCGS, Osaka mint, KM-YA66 (listed under Japan), JNDA 08-3. Exceedingly scarce as a type, this occupational issue saw nearly all of its mintage either lost or remelted at the mint in Osaka, with those few pieces that do survive seldom having escaped at least light circulation and corrosion. This present piece, however, is entirely fresh, presently among the finest certified, and even outranks the Norman Jacobs specimen by a grade point.
