Theodosius I, with Arcadius and Honorius, 383-395. Seal (Lead, 15 mm, 3.22 g). DD[D NN]N ('Our Lords') Pearl-diademed and draped imperial bust facing, flanked by two more pearl-diademed and draped busts, facing inward. Leukel 118-121. Still 204. An exceptional imperial seal from late antiquity. Extremely fine.
The portraits on this beautiful late Roman seal are not named and several combinations of emperors are possible. Here, the identification of Theodosius I with his sons is preferred, following Leukel, but other combinations are conceivable.
