INDIA, Mauryan Empire. Karshapana (Silver, 18 mm, 3.00 g), circa 2nd century BC. Five punches: jumping dog with taurine, palm tree, elephant, sun, six-armed symbol with arrows and taurines. Rev. Blank with traces of undertype visible. Gupta & Hardaker, Punchmarked Coinage of the Indian Subcontinent, 305. An attractive and lightly toned example. Traces of overstriking on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
