CARIA. Antiochia ad Maeandrum. Augustus (?), 27 BC-AD 14. Hemiassarion (Bronze, 14 mm, 3.36 g, 6 h), Paionios, member of the synarchy. ΣEBAΣTOΣ Bare head of Augustus (or Tiberius?) to right. Rev. ΠAIΩNIOY ΣYNAPXIA ANTIOXEΩN Athena standing left, holding spear with her right hand and shield with her left. RPC I 2834. An excellent and unusually complete example. About extremely fine.

Synarchy literally means 'joint rule'. Here it refers to a committee of magistrates under the lead of Paionios, who was probably responsible for the coin production of the polis.
