KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 38 mm, 16.69 g, 12 h), struck posthumously, Myrina, ca. 188-170. Head of youthful Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on backless throne, holding eagle in his right hand and scepter in his left; to left, below eagle, monogram of MYPI above amphora. Price 1659. Struck on a very broad flan. Good very fine.
