SICILY. Leontini. Circa 450-440 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 16.62 g, 10 h). Laureate head of Apollo to left, his hair bound up at the back. Rev. ΛΕΟΝΤΙΝΟΝ (retrograde) Head of a lion with open jaws to left; around, four barley grains. Boehringer, Münzgeschichte 51. (this obverse die). SNG ANS 234 (this reverse die). Toned and of an attractive, early Classical style. Rough surfaces, otherwise, good very fine.
