Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Michael IX, 1282-1328. Trachy (Bronze, 20.5 mm, 1.26 g, 6 h), Thessalonica. Full-length figures of Andronicus II, on right, wearing stemma, divitison and loros, holding cruciform scepter in left hand, and with right hand crowning Michael IX, on left, similarly attired, holdingscrciform scepter in right hand and anexikakia in left; in left and right fields, large six-pointed stars. Rev. Six-pointed floral star. Cf. DOC 765. Cf. LPC p. 230, 5. Cf. PCPC 229. Cf. SB 2457 (all lacking the two stars on the reverse). Possibly an unpublished variety. Brown patina. Very fine.
