Half dirham (Bronze, 24 mm, 4.57 g, 12 h), unlisted mint, possibly Mardin, AH 611 = AD 1214/1215. Nâsir al-Dunyâ wa al-Dîn Artuq Arslân Malik Diyârbakr (in Arabic) Bareheaded and draped bust facing slightly to left. Rev. Legend in five lines citing the Abbasid Caliph Al-Nasir in five lines; above, Artuqid tamgha between two stars; date in outer left and right margins. Album 1830.4. S&S Type 40. Dark greenish-black patina with some areas of underlying copper showing through. Very fine.
The prototype for the obverse of this coin was probably the facing Helios on the coins of Rhodes.
