LYDIA, Tralles. Circa 166-67 BC. AR Tetradrachm (24mm, 12.27 g, 12h). Cistophoric series. Ptol(emy?)–, magistrate. Dated CY [2, 3, or 4] (132-130 BC). Cista mystica, with half-open lid, from which a serpent emerges; all within ivy wreath with fruits / Bow case flanked by two interlaced snakes with heads erect; ΠΤΟΛ above, date (off flan) above [TPA]Λ to left; to right, Dionysos standing right, holding thyrsos and mask of Selinos. Cf. SNG Copenhagen 2 (CY 3); cf. BMC Lydia 45 (CY 2). Toned, somewhat granular metal, reverse slightly off-center, light scrapes and marks, date off flan. VF.
