The fantastic heroic-style bust on this medallion harks back to the kings of the Hellenistic age and is a refreshing departure from the highly schematic portraits found on the contemporary coinage.
The reverse depicts the Tres Monetae, female personifications of the three metals of gold, silver, and bronze.
