SICILY, Syracuse. Second Democracy. 466-405 BC. AR Tetradrachm (25.5mm, 17.17 g, 2h). Struck circa 430 BC. Charioteer, holding kentron in right hand, reins in both, driving slow quadriga right; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses with open wreath held in both hands / Head of Arethousa right, wearing wide tainia, earring, and necklace; ΣYPAKOΣION to right, four dolphins around. Boehringer Series XIX, 628 (V319/R432); HGC 2, 1316; SNG ANS 200 (same dies); BMC 101 (same dies); SNG München 1030 (same dies); Boston MFA 385 = Warren 336 (same dies); de Luynes 1180 (same dies). Lightly toned, minor scuff on reverse. VF. Struck on a broad flan.
