GERMANY. Hessen-Cassel. Goldgulden, 1506. Wilhelm II. NGC VF Details--Holed.
Fr-1235; Schulten-1207. Obverse: Central coat-of-arms surrounded by four smaller coats-of-arms; all within polylobe; Reverse: St. Elizabeth (mother of the Virgin Mary), standing facing, holding cathedral model and with child clasping her leg. From a series that knows very few examples extant across three years of production, this specimen offers great detail remaining and presents an overall centering of the strike. While there is a small hole noted near the outer legend, this nevertheless offers a seldom seen opportunity to acquire a RARE survivor from the early modern period.
