GERMANY. Rhenish Confederation. Taler, 1809-CB. Karl Theodor von Dalberg. NGC MS-64.
Dav-810; KM-7. Virtually untoned, this mostly argent specimen presents a great deal of shimmering brilliance along with a fairly sharp strike. A few edge splits are noted, but are very small and also entirely consistent with the issue. Tied with just one other example for the finest in the NGC census, this great piece is sure to generate great enthusiasm.

Karl Theodor von Dalberg was Prince-Archbishop of Regensburg, Arch-Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire, Bishop of Constance and Worms, Prince-Primate of the Confederation of the Rhine, and Grand Duke of Frankfurt. He attempted to preserve his own status and the integrity of Germany by toadying to Napoleon, for which he was rewarded by being made head of Napoleon's puppet Confederation of the Rhine.

Estimate: $1500.00- $2000.00
