GREAT BRITAIN. Noble, ND (1369-77). Calais Mint. Edward III. NGC MS-64.
S-1521; Fr-98; N-1281. Weight: 7.72 gms. Fourth coinage, post Treaty period. A sharply struck example on a nice broad flan exhibiting nearly complete legends and crisp well defined design elements. The smooth surfaces coupled with attractive pale golden color that's accentuated by a thin veneer of mottled orange tone offers a pleasing appearance of this choice example. A seldom encountered issue in this high state of preservation sure to see spirited completion from collectors with a discerning eye destined for a fine cabinet.

The English captured the town of Calais in 1347 after a ten month siege and held it until the reign of Mary I.

Ex: Cheshire Collection.

Estimate: $4000.00- $8000.00
