GREAT BRITAIN. Pound (20 Shillings), ND (1594-96). London Mint; im: Woolpack. Elizabeth I. PCGS Genuine--Graffiti, AU Details Gold Shield.
S-2534; Fr-214; N-2008. Weight: 11.18 gms. A very attractive and nicely preserved example of the type exhibiting a bold strike with crisp well formed legends and central devices, though a small area of the bust is a bit muddled with minor weakness on the corresponding reverse and minimal signs of doubling almost not worth mentioning. The central motif displays an expressive portrait of this popular monarch exhibiting finely engraved dies from very capable hands, clearly much consideration was taken into account before work began. Signs of handling consistent for the grade offering much originality and a pleasing appearance, though their is some minor evidence of mistreatment as indicated by the PCGS insert. Several light unobtrusive and well placed pin scratches can be seen in the upper field behind the bust if caught in the right light which accounts for the details designation, but are hardly distracting. This cataloger feels "Graffiti" is a bit of a strong term in this instance and believes that "Scratches" is more appropriate. Despite its shortcomings a very handsome survivor of the type with attributes that many numismatists find appealing and actively seek out sure to see spirited bidding from collectors.

Estimate: $7000.00- $10000.00
