CHILE. 8 Escudos, 1839-So IJ. Santiago Mint. NGC MS-63.
KM-104.1; Onza-1638. Mintage: 27,000. An amazing coin, this piece possesses immense radiance on both sides that results from near-prooflike smoothness in the fields. A bold strike further emboldens the appearance, as not only are the central designs impressively detailed for the type, but the edge dentilation is also noticeably sharp, serving as a pleasant frame for the devices. On the arms side, a number of meandering lint marks appear upon close inspection, and a lamination is disguised within the design, but very few marks are seen. In fact, few marks appear over either side, which was obviously a major contributor to the grade. Altogether, unquestionably elite, with this being the only example graded MS-63 by NGC with a single MS-64 deemed finer.

From the Oro del Nuevo Mundo Collection.

Ex: R.L. Lissner Collection (CNG 8/2014) Lot # 1359.

Ex: Louis Collins (12/1988).

Estimate: $8000.00- $12000.00
