MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1805/4-Mo TH. Mexico City Mint. Charles IV. NGC MS-63.
KM-159; Onza-1041 var. (unlisted as overdate). Stunning quality, boasting sharp designs, dazzling luster and vivid yellow-golden surfaces that are accented by faint rose-colored blushes on both sides. The overdate, while subtle, is undeniable with slight traces of the base of the four, as well as its far left point, confirmed upon close inspection. Because of this, likely missed by the La Onza authors, making their usage of this exact coin in their plating of the regular 1805 date a somewhat whimsical footnote. While 63 examples have been certified as the regular date by NGC, this piece is the finest of only three graded of the overdate. As such, a RARE opportunity for the specialist to acquire not only a superb example of the type, but the top graded example of this seldom seen overdate.

From the Oro del Nuevo Mundo Collection.

Estimate: $4000.00- $6000.00
