ARGENTINA. La Rioja. 2 Escudos, 1842-R. La Rioja Mint. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield.
Fr-11; KM-13; CJ-53. A one-year type struck to honor Argentina's first military dictator, General Juan Manuel de Rosas, this handsomely preserved specimen features satiny luster in the fields and only a hint of friction across the high points. There is just a slight degree of off-centering to one side, but it is a facet largely unnoticeable, while the surfaces are a vibrant lemon-yellow hue with hues of deeper honey near the peripheries. Quite SCARCE at this grade level, with just two pieces certified finer by PCGS.
