MEXICO. 2 Escudos, 1747-Mo MF. Mexico City Mint. Ferdinand VI. NGC VF-25.
Fr-15; KM-125; Cal-Type 95 # 648; Cayon-10735; Grove-1108. A VERY RARE and heavily sought after one-year "Caveman" bust type. Imaginary bust design struck before the Madrid Mint delivered definitive standard portrait punches of the new monarch. Armored bust right, legend around; Reverse: Crowned arms of Spain flanked by Assayer's initials and *2*; legend around. A wholesome and seldom encountered type boasting a nice strong strike with even wear consistent for the grade complemented by rich sunset hued patina in the protected areas amongst the devices and peripheries adding to its desirability. A lovely survivor of this heavily sought after issue certain to excite many collectors destined for a fine cabinet.
