S-3766; KM-652. Bank of England countermark (the famous "head of a fool on the neck of an ass"); Bust of George III right utilized from the then current 6 Pence within octagonal indent. On a 1778-PTS PR Bolivia bust 8 Reales of Charles III. The countermark is deeply applied with bold details and crisp well defined shaped border. An attractive moderately worn example displaying lovely rich mottled gray patina with areas of lighter coloration offering good eye appeal and much originality.
