A well executed design stands out on the face of this 50 Mil Reis note which features explorers from the Age of Discovery, such as "The Perfect Prince" John II of Portugal on the pillar at left. Bartolomeau Dias on the pillar right, portrait of Pero de Alenquer at lower left and Diogo Cao at lower right. Ships from the era are seen navigating coastal waters with an angel watching from above. The reverse displays arms at left in center with ornate engraving work standing out in the border design. Pinholes are noticed along with minor internal tears, with edge wear also seen.
