HONORIUS, A.D. 393-423. AV Solidus (4.41 gms), Constantinople Mint, 9th Officina, A.D. 395-402. NGC EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 2/5. Scratches, Graffito.
RIC-8; Depeyrot-55/2. Obverse: Pearl-diademed, helmeted, and cuirassed bust facing slightly right, holding spear over shoulder and shield decorated with horseman motif / Constantinopolis seated facing on throne, head right, with foot on prow, and holding scepter and victoriola; Θ//CONOB. Some scratches are indeed noted, but it is difficult to ascertain what is intended by the "graffito" designation, as one would think that "scratches" would encompass that and more. In any event, a well centered representative example of the type.
Estimate: $400.00- $600.00
