Obverse: REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE, laureate and armored bust of Marianne left, wearing Phrygian cap; below, trumpeting herald flying left; Reverse: LYON REPUBLICAIN, Bartholdi's Lion of Belfort; below, decorative plaque engraved "FETE DE L'ARBRE / MARTIGNAT 1908 / Mr LEVRIER / PRESIDENT" in four lines. Edge: [cornucopia hallmark] 1 ARGENT. A charming example overall with some pleasing matte characteristics and some light yellow hues from being gilt.
