GREAT BRITAIN. Penny, ND (ca. 1083-86). London Mint; Aewi, moneyer. William I "the Conqueror". ANACS VF-35.
S-1257; N-850. Paxs type. Obverse: Crowned facing bust, holding cruciform scepter and with trefoil on shoulder; Reverse: Short cross pattee, with circumscribed letters P-A-X-S in angles. Some striking weakness and a few die flaws are noted, but this charming example would otherwise appear to be rather conservatively graded, as there is little in the way of actual handling, while some pleasing cabinet toning adds even more appeal.
Estimate: $500.00- $750.00
